Cognitive Behavioral Primer

Our Cognitive Behavioral Primer provides an introduction to cognitive behavioral methods.

Cognitive-behavioral programs have demonstrated favorable outcomes in reducing recidivism across offender populations. These programs help clients become aware of the impact of attitudes, values and beliefs on behavior, and they provide clients with the skills and personal strategies necessary to disrupt non-adaptive behavioral patterns.

During the two-day Cognitive Behavioral Primer training, participants will gain a better understanding of how they can use cognitive-behavioral methods in both group and individual contexts.

After participating in this training staff will be able to:

  • define the key concepts and guiding practices of cognitive-behavioral interventions
  • teach and use cognitive-behavioral strategies in their work with adults and youth
  • monitor and reinforce clients’ progress in applying cognitive skills.
