Services provided by Orbis Partners are best categorized into four main areas – assessment, programs, research and evaluation and software development.
Orbis Partners has developed a suite of state-of-the-art assessment tools for assessments of risk, need, and strengths in criminal justice populations. The assessment tools have been designed for adults, youth and a special assessment protocol for women. Our assessment tools focus on assessing the dynamic characteristics of client groups in a way that provides meaningful direction for developing case plans. The assessment tools have been expressly designed to help case workers develop and monitor strategies for encouraging positive change in their clients. The assessment tools are software driven and include integrated case planning functions to ensure that assessment is not simply a paperwork routine that remains in the client’s file.
We have assisted a number of jurisdictions in their efforts to develop, customize, implement and validate systematic assessment tools that are aimed at advancing principles of evidence-based practice. Our approach has been to help jurisdictions gain the maximum benefits from assessment tools. We provide a comprehensive training package for learning how to conduct an assessment and apply the results for conducting effective casework. Train-the-trainer certification is also available.
Orbis Partners is a leader in the development of programming for high risk populations – particularly in the field of corrections. However, our programs are suitable for a variety of client groups and for use in diverse human service settings. All based on cognitive behavioural principles, we have created a number of programs to help promote behavioural change in critical target areas that are presented by clients. Based on the most current research on techniques that promote behavioural change, the development of our interventions has also benefitted from input from program delivery staff. The programs feature high quality materials to help program staff deliver interventions in a way that will facilitate maximum gains in participants. All of the curricula use detailed scripting for both didactic presentations and participant exercises with materials designed for both participants and program delivery staff. Orbis offers a series of dynamic training to certify trainees in the delivery of the interventions. Our associates travel nationally and internationally to provide training in a variety of settings, including correctional institutions as well as community settings. Program areas include anger management, cognitive skill development, effective casework, motivational interviewing, substance abuse and community reintegration. Gender-responsive programs and case management curricula are also available, focusing on skill development specifically for teenage girl and adult women populations.
As part of our program services, we also offer basic training curriculum for new staff recruits in youth and adult community supervision settings and institutional case management. Each program has a complete training, oversight and certification protocol to ensure trained staff achieve and maintain required delivery standards.

We possess a strong program evaluation team for leading process and outcome evaluations as well as conducting program reviews. Our applied research expertise derives from extensive experience working with large and small organizations, helping them collect data, conduct analyses to address problems, and assist in the practical interpretation of results. Our research and evaluation activities help organizations build greater capacity for delivering evidence-based services.
Orbis Partners maintains a dynamic software division that spearheads innovative development of software solutions to support our assessment and program products. Integration with existing systems already in place for jurisdictions is a common requirement, and a particular area of expertise for our software team. Customized software solutions to meet specific needs and IT consulting services for achieving desired results are also key services available from our software division.
